SPTV Group in the Spotlight at Séries em Série 2026

The SPTV Group once again took part in Séries em Série on February 21, the annual showcase hosted by RTP unveiling its upcoming national fiction slate and international co-productions. This year’s edition introduced approximately 15 new titles, reinforcing the public broadcaster’s commitment to high-quality drama, comedy and suspense, available both on free-to-air television and on RTP Play.

Three productions from the SPTV Group stood out throughout the day. In the morning session, the trailer for Season Three of SALTO DE FÉ was screened, with lead actor Diogo Valsassina, members of the cast and project coordinator Jorge Queiroga present on stage. The new season highlights the continued evolution of a series that has firmly established its connection with audiences. The afternoon spotlight turned to ALGODÃO A FRIo, positioned as one of RTP Play’s major exclusive premieres. The six-episode series unfolds from a gripping premise: seven strangers become trapped inside a laundromat following a hit-and-run accident, setting off an escalating chain of psychological tension, unexpected revelations and moral confrontation. The presentation featured the cast and director Ricardo Leite. The series is set to premiere on March 23.

Another key highlight of the event was the introduction of the Microdramas slate, a new editorial line reinforcing RTP’s strategic investment in short-form storytelling designed for digital consumption. Two episodes of ALÉM DO SILENCIO were screened. The story centers on Isabel, a woman who kills her husband in self-defense after enduring domestic violence. The narrative explores both the deterioration of the relationship leading up to the fatal act and the subsequent legal proceedings, addressing themes of trauma, accountability and justice. On the occasion, the creative team and cast took the stage, led by project coordinator Manuel Amaro da Costa. The microdramas will be available on RTP Play starting March 2, marking a new chapter in the diversification of Portuguese fiction and its adaptation to evolving audience habits.

The SPTV Group’s presence at Séries em Série 2026 further consolidates its position within the Portuguese audiovisual landscape, with projects spanning multiple genres and formats, strengthening its footprint across both linear broadcasting and digital platforms.
