Micro Series surpass 17 Million Views
Two months after their premiere, the MICRO SERIES produced by SPi have already surpassed 17 million views, confirming the public’s strong embrace of this new digital fiction format.
Launched in March of this year, these micro-productions, which were filmed in vertical format, already represent an innovative venture in Portuguese audiovisual production, featuring original content designed for consumption on mobile devices. They have been distributed on RTP’s digital platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and RTP Play.
The project brings together five original stories, spanning genres ranging from comedy to drama. Among the titles featured are Sabores de Amor, with a lighter, romantic tone, and Além do Silêncio, centered on a dramatic and emotional narrative.
The productions are the result of a partnership between RTP and SPi and were directed by Manuel Amaro da Costa. According to the state broadcaster, the narratives were developed to respond to new audiovisual viewing habits, prioritizing short episodes, a fast pace, and strong visual impact.
According to the data released, the micro-series managed to reach different age groups, recording an average of 22 minutes of viewing per user—results that demonstrate the format’s potential and reinforce the positioning of SPi and the public media service “at the forefront of national fiction.”
With this initiative, both aim to connect with younger audiences and strengthen the presence of Portuguese fiction on digital platforms, at a time when short-form content is becoming increasingly popular with online audiences.
The Micro Series remain available for free on the public broadcaster’s digital platforms.
