SPi strengthens executive leadership to accelerate international expansion

SPi, the international production company of the SP TV Group, will restructure its executive leadership team as of July, with the aim of consolidating its position in the global audiovisual market and reinforcing its international growth strategy.

As part of this new structure, Sofia Moura takes on the role of Chief Operations & Business Officer, assuming responsibility for the company’s operations, business development and international expansion strategy. Her new role will focus on increasing operational efficiency, identifying new market opportunities and strengthening SPi’s international presence.

Pedro Lopes has also been appointed Chief Creative & Strategy Officer, taking responsibility for the company’s creative vision and strategic direction. In this new role, he will lead the development of original projects, while reinforcing SPi’s creative identity and long-term positioning in the market.

According to João Pedro Lopes, CEO of the SP TV Group, this restructuring “reflects SPi’s ambition to continue evolving and to lead the transformation of the audiovisual industry”. He adds that the new organisation creates “the conditions for a more integrated response to today’s challenges”, allowing the company to anticipate future opportunities.

The decision comes at a time of growing international recognition for the SP TV Group, which, over the past decade, has established itself as one of the Portuguese production groups with the strongest presence abroad. The group has received three nominations for the International Emmy Awards and won an International Emmy, in addition to producing Glória, Netflix’s first Portuguese original series.

With this reorganisation, SPi aims to strengthen its ability to develop, produce and bring Portuguese and international stories to global audiences, while further consolidating its relationships with broadcasters, streaming platforms and international co-production partners.

Founded in 2017, SPi is the international production company of the SP TV Group, dedicated to the development and production of premium fiction and entertainment content for global audiences. The company has built an internationally recognised portfolio of productions, including Códex 632, Vanda, Motel Valkirias, Auga Seca and Cold Haven.

Today, SPi’s productions are available in more than 190 countries and have received over 50 awards and distinctions at international festivals, reinforcing the company’s role in promoting Portuguese creative talent beyond borders.
