SPi Supports Special Screening of Glória, Netflix’s First Portuguese Original Series
On July 1, Lisbon will host a special screening dedicated to Glória, Netflix’s first Portuguese original series, in an initiative promoted by the audiovisual community O QUADRO, with the support of SPi and SP Televisão.
As part of the sixth edition of the O QUADRO Screening series, the event will take place at the Ando Living Rooftop and will bring together industry professionals, students, creators and audiovisual enthusiasts to celebrate one of the most significant Portuguese television productions of recent years.
The event will feature a screening of the first episode of the series, followed by a conversation with key members of the creative and production teams, offering audiences a unique opportunity to gain insight into the making of a project that marked a historic milestone for Portuguese fiction on the international stage.
Created by Pedro Lopes and directed by Tiago Guedes, Glória transports viewers to Portugal during the height of the Cold War. The story follows João Vidal, a young engineer recruited to work as a spy for the KGB while employed at RARET, the American-operated radio station that broadcast Western propaganda beyond the Iron Curtain. Combining espionage, political intrigue and historical drama, the series explores themes of loyalty, identity and the personal consequences of living between competing ideologies.
Following the screening, a panel discussion will feature Pedro Lopes (creator and writer), Tiago Guedes (director), André Szankowski (director of photography), Jo Monteiro (casting director) and Adriano Luz (actor), alongside additional guests to be announced.
