SPTV Projects honored at the VENICE TV AWARDS

Portuguese fiction once again made history abroad at the prestigious Venice TV Awards. At the 2026 edition, whose winners were announced today, September 29, the SPTV Group solidified its international standing by winning two major awards. The biggest highlight goes to VITÓRIA, produced by SP Televisão, which emerged as the top winner in the Best Telenovela (Soap/Telenovela) category. Adding to this triumph was the recognition of the micro-drama HOUSING MANIA, an SPi production, which received a Nomination Award in the Multiplatform category.

The award-winning projects reflect distinct narrative approaches, but both captured the attention of the international jury. VITÓRIA is an adaptation of a Turkish format for SIC, OPTO, and Disney+, whose story centers on the resilience of a woman who moves mountains to regain custody of her children, facing relentless opposition and injustices perpetrated by her late husband’s family. The telenovela competed directly against giants of the Brazilian industry, notably the Brazilian remake of Dona Beja.

HOUSING MANIA is part of a series of five microseries developed for RTP Play. The story touches on a contemporary social issue by portraying four young adults pushed by the housing crisis into a forced living arrangement, where desperation drives them to extremes to avoid eviction by their landlord.

The projects by SP Televisão and SPi have thus won two more international awards, placing Portuguese fiction among the best in the world.
