Synopsis

Tomás de Noronha, a History professor and cryptologist, is hired by an Italian Foundation to decode the research of his mentor, who died in obscure circumstances, without knowing that the research could change the perception we have of our past, threatening established powers and long-established economic interests. And the closer he gets to the truth, the more danger he faces.

Is a reserved man, an intellectual, passionate about history and puzzles. He is clinging to a failing marriage to Constança, and one of the reasons for this failure and also the reason they stay together: their daughter Margarida who was born with Down’s syndrome. What leads him to accept the challenge of the Amerigo Vespucci Foundation is the money, but he will attempt to unravel the puzzles that led to the death of his mentor and friend, Martinho Toscano. This grandfather was Jewish, a refugee from Germany, which gives him an ecumenical perspective on the world.
